Solutions adapted to changes in consumer behaviour
Consumer needs are changing. People are spending less time eating and they want to be reassured and guided by well-known brands. In addition, they are more aware of the importance of balanced, healthy meals and better informed about nutrition issues.
In response, we have developed urban brands that meet the needs of today’s consumers. They include Espressamente Illy, a genuine Italian-style espresso bar, Pomme de Pain, , a French-style sandwich bar, mais aussi Paul, a traditional, high-quality French boulangerie that offers sandwiches and snacks for people on the go and Bert’s, an upscale contemporary café.
In the travel market, we have developed small-scale formats such as kiosks and carts suited to the flow of travellers, who are increasingly pressed for time. We also combine our restaurant services with our Travel Retail business through a large network of retail banners such as OuiShop and vending machines.
Our strategy to address the issue of nutritional balance is based on information and awareness-building programmes as well as specific meal concepts, such as Equilibre, Nutristick and Balance, which are available in companies and schools in France and the United Kingdom.
These concepts offer a fun way of helping guests make nutritional, healthy and balanced choices. Similarly, our Cocoon kiosk presents a complete programme of low-calorie recipes developed with the help of nutritionists. We also propose original cooking methods, such as stir-frying with the Fusion Wok, grilling ‘a la plancha’ and steaming, which preserve the nutritional quality of foods.
Our Innovation Committee, made up of experts from our Marketing and Purchasing departments, is constantly on the look-out for original products such as different types of water and ethnic foods, unique recipes for vegetable buffets and fish and dessert menus, which it develops in cooperation with our Test Kitchen, and leading edge technologies, for example for uniforms, olfactory marketing and recycled packaging.
All these innovations are thoroughly reviewed by our Food Quality and Safety department.
An integrated range of services
We also strive for innovation across our businesses with services such as Recreazen children’s play areas at motorway service areas and retirement homes, and Vitazen relaxation zones and WiFi access at motorway service areas.
We are also developing extranets to enable employees to consult their company’s restaurant menu, order room service or have products delivered to their desk.
