Becoming a genuine partner in nutrition, health and well-being
To meet growing consumer needs for balanced meal options, we actively promote good eating habits with the goal of combining nutrition with pleasure.
Our strategy hinges on four principles:
• Increasing the nutritional value of our offerings
• Taking into account specific physiological and social needs
• Helping to prevent obesity and cardiovascular disease
• Ensuring that our clients and guests are better informed, and training our employees.
Solutions adapted to each guest segment

We deliver solutions that allow everyone to make healthy eating a party of daily life.
In the Business & Industry sector, we offer varied, low-calorie options for adults with our Cocoon format, which is available at many company restaurants in France. We also provide formats that promote culinary techniques preserving the nutritional value of foods, such as wok stir-frying, grilling and steaming.
In French schools, Avenance provides an array of age-specific offerings, with “Tiny Tot Restaurant” (Le Restaurant Des Tout-Petits) for pre-schools and “Helping Myself to Growth” (Le Self Qui Fait Grandir) for primary schools. Tiny Tot Restaurant helps to teach children how to appreciate food by presenting a particular fruit or vegetable every week at the “Curiosity Table” (Table Des Curieux) before meals.
In the Healthcare & Seniors sector, we offer “Easy-to-Eat” (Faciles à Manger) menus designed by nutritionists and occupational therapists to help dependent seniors overcome eating difficulties with appetising, varied meals aligned with medical requirements.
In Spain, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, our vending machines provide a variety of balanced, nutritional snack options including milk and fruit-based products, mineral water and cereal bars. |

Information programmes to guide our guests
|
In various countries, we also organise counselling and information programmes for our guests.
In France, Avenance offers the Équilibre healthy eating initiative at company restaurants, following the recommendations of the French National Health and Nutrition Programme (PNNS). With its simple visual guidelines, the initiative helps guests to put together their own meals while learning to change their eating habits. In 2007, it was certified PNNS-compliant on the strength of its information documents. The initiative includes regular “Balance & Well-Being” (Équilibre & Bien-Être) sessions with foods known for their nutritional value, including fruits, vegetables, milk products, cereal products and fish. In addition, all-day theme events led by Avenance nutritionists allow guests to learn about balanced eating from a dietary specialist. In the Netherlands, the “Life Line” programme offers advice to guests, and in the United Kingdom, the “Balance” programme highlights foods recommended for their health or nutritional value.
The programme is also used in UK secondary schools to help students to recognize foods that contribute to their well-being, with colourful labels identifying healthy food options. The “MiniGiant” programme for 5 to 8 year-olds is designed to teach children to appreciate tastes through six activity modules led by teachers during school hours. It is currently being deployed in around 15 schools. In France, the “Nutri’Stick” concept builds awareness by labelling healthy meal options with one of four pictograms providing simple nutritional information. The programme was certified PNNS-compliant in October 2006. Lastly, a website for children, parents and teachers called Cantines.com has been launched to encourage healthy eating habits in children and stimulate their taste buds through educational activities.
On motorways in France, our restaurants and retail outlets participate in the “Smart Snack” (Croq’Malin) initiative led by motorway companies and their partners, based on PNNS nutritional objectives and guidelines. Furthermore, through our “Le Boeuf Jardinier” restaurant and grill banner, we have decided to partner the “Food and Balance” (Alimentation et Équilibre) programme organised by the Accor Services Ticket Restaurant meal voucher business.
Through all of these initiatives, we support our clients and guests in their eating experience and encourage best nutritional practices.
