Our Employees

Becoming the industry's preferred employer

Our commitment to becoming the industry’s preferred employer is underpinned by strong managerial values, combined with a willingness to effectively integrate all of the Group’s employees and help them to grow. Our human resources programme, which is the same in all our host countries, is an integral part of our commitment to corporate social responsibility.

Six priorities

Our programme hinges on the following six priorities:

Attract and retain talent
Train, qualify and help develop
Know and recognise everyone
Foster and develop managerial culture
Advance labour relations
Support business operations

Integrating all forms of talents

The word “integration” takes on its true meaning in a Group with more than 63,000 employees representing over 140 different nationalities, 84% of whom are non-managerial staff. The recruitment process, which is open to people from all walks of society, provides an opportunity for social inclusion.

Our hiring methods are consistent with our pledge to be an equal opportunity employer, made in our Corporate Diversity Charter.  They are supported by a number of long-standing partnerships with organisations that ensure our job offers are widely accessible. These include the French national employment agency (ANPE) and non-profit organisations that help disadvantaged people to re-enter the workforce.

We hire people based on their professional skills rather than their formal qualifications or social background. By using a wide range of media to advertise positions both in France and internationally, we increase candidates’ chances of finding the right job and enhance our ability to fill vacancies.

We consider it a priority to help new hires settle into their position and ensure they all feel welcome. Staff induction processes are organised in each country based on the most appropriate local methods, but all cover the following three themes:

•    Welcoming employees to Elior
•    Occupational health & safety
•    Food safety

DDeveloping talent over the long term

By promoting social advancement and training, and rewarding innovation and expertise, we encourage and develop talent through a wide range of initiatives.

Fifteen percent of our employees are under 25. These young people need to be given the opportunity of a fulfilling career within the Group.  Our goal is to bring 10% of employees into managerial positions within five years.

Many initiatives are implemented to develop staff competencies over the long term:

•    Identifying employees with the motivation to engage in long-term professional training and, where appropriate, obtain qualifications that are recognised in the marketplace.
•    Developing apprenticeship programmes
•    Encouraging employees to acquire skills, experience and knowledge to guarantee our teams’ professional competence and our operational excellence.

The Group’s managers are also offered training, because it takes special skills to be a good manager and to help team members to fulfil their potential. To encourage excellence, local programmes reward innovation and promote professional expertise.

Respecting our employees

Our priorities include ensuring the safety of our employees, encouraging high performance and promoting social dialogue in all our host countries.

In each country, we are responsible for implementing the best possible preventive measures to ensure the safety of our employees. In cooperation with our clients, our teams monitor training, individual equipment and safety system installation and upgrades.

We encourage employee performance by identifying high potential people and financially rewarding the achievement of objectives. Responsibility for this is shared between the management and human resources teams.

We promote all forms of social dialogue.  A Group Works Council has been in place in France since 2000 and an agreement to set up a European Works Council has been signed with all employee representatives.
