From 16 November 2009 to 16 January 2010, the Group is participating in the operation named "Take a fair break", organised by Faitrade@work to encourage the consumption of these products at the place of work. For two months, more than 100 Avenance institutional restaurants all over France will be flying the colours of fair trade.
Elior works every day to maintain local agriculture, in compliance with social, economic and environmental criteria. Local, seasonal products, or products from organic farming, are all illustrations of the fact. When these products do not exist in their regions, the encouragement of proximity farming, in respect of these three criteria is part of Elior's natural commitment to Fair Trade. In terms of its sites, the Group is multiplying its operations aimed at its customers and partners, to make them more aware of fair trade. Elior is therefore working with specialised retailers proposing a range of labelled products like coffee, tea, jam, pasta or rice. The restaurants at the Quai Branly Museum and the Maison de l’Amérique Latine in Paris have lastingly integrated many products derived from fair trade into their menus. As Elisabeth Derancourt, Sustainable Development Manager of the Elior Group sees it: "The historical partnership we have with the Max Havelaar association is an illustration of our commitment to products derived from fair trade and is a total part of our approach to sustainable development. Our enterprise customers have to meet the expectations of our enterprise customers regarding these issues and it seemed natural for us to accompany the association in its project, aimed at enhancing the existing methods in the professional world".
